Why Choose Hometown Hearing?
- At Hometown Hearing, we provide our patients with expert hearing solutions to help them manage their hearing loss. We are a family owned and operated practice. Our owner and hearing instrument specialist, Jacob Levsen, opened Hometown Hearing in 2015 to provide the people of Des Moines with better hearing.
- We are a no pressure environment. When you come to Hometown Hearing you will never be pressured to buy a pair of hearing aids that you don’t need or don’t want. We always encourage our patients to test out our hearing aids before they commit to them. That’s why we allow our patients to demo hearing aids for a couple of weeks, so they can experience how they fit and feel in their ears.
- We are able to help patients with the full range of their hearing health needs. Whatever your hearing needs are, we can help you. From the latest hearing aids to assistive listening devices, we can help you experience an improved quality of life through better hearing.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment
When you come to Hometown Hearing for your first appointment you will immediately be greeted by Jacob, our Hearing Instrument Specialist. Upon your arrival we will have you fill out a questionnaire providing us with your personal, family, and medical history. Once your paperwork has been completed then Jacob will bring you back to start the hearing evaluation.
- To begin, we will test your hearing. This will help us identify the type and degree of hearing loss you may have.
- After the hearing test we will explain the results of your audiogram. We will answer any questions you may have about your results and take the time to educate you about your hearing loss.
- After we’ve discussed your results then we will have you try on a pair of demo hearing aids. This allows you to experience how they feel in your ears and how they sound.
- We encourage you to take the demo hearing aids home and try them out for 2 weeks so you can see how they help you hear in your own environment.
